PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for providing a number portability service are provided to supply the phone number portability for a wired phone by storing number portability information on a wire communication network and a VoIP network to a number portability database. CONSTITUTION: An NPDB(Number Portability Database)(124) stores number portability information on at least one of a mobile network, a wire network and a VoIP(Voice over Internet Protocol) network. An originating service unit(122) receives number portability response signal for a receiving number from the NPDB. The originating service device the connection of an originating call to a receiving terminal(140) through a receiving service unit(130) identified by the number mobility response signal.
