PURPOSE: A mobile terminal and a method for controlling the mobile terminal to use in a host are provided to efficiently use the portable terminal through a host device by using a virtualization engine. CONSTITUTION: A display unit(11) provides a screen for selecting a user mode, and a storage unit(18) stores a virtualization engine and the programs for implementing the user modes. A control unit(16) recognizes the communication connection with an external host device(20), and transfers the virtualization engine and the programs to the host device. The control unit transfers the selected user mode information to the host device. The virtualization engine drives a drive program corresponding to the user mode in the host device.
