PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a permanent magnet rotating electrical machine of which weight is reduced in a shape thinned in the rotary shaft direction and which can obtain a high output. SOLUTION: The rotating electrical machine includes a stator constituted with armature windings, and a rotor rotatably supported with respect to the stator and having permanent magnets arranged in a Halbach array. At the rotor constituted of a non-magnetic member, two rows of permanent magnet trains arranged in the Halbach array from a rotary shaft of the rotating electrical machine to a circumferential direction are provided along the rotary shaft direction. The armature windings are disposed between the two rows of permanent magnet trains so as to be opposite to the two rows of permanent magnet trains and arranged so that magnetic flux of the permanent magnets is interlinked to the armature windings. Magnetic poles of the permanent magnets in the two rows of permanent magnet trains are directed to the same direction with respect to the magnetic poles of permanent magnets in the rotary shaft direction, and directed to the reverse direction with respect to the magnetic poles of permanent magnets in the circumferential direction.
