The measuring device (10) has a light source (12) for illuminating a tire surface with intensity modulated light and a time- of-flight sensor (14) for detecting the light reflected from the tire surface. A three-dimensional model of the detected light tire surface is determined on the basis of the running time of the received light. An evaluation unit (16) is so designed that tire parameters are determined based on the determined three-dimensional model. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a measuring system with a wheel housing; (2) a measuring fixture with a display; and (3) a method for operating a measuring device.
