Disclosed is a light irradiation device which emits light having a desired spectrum and a controlled directivity. Specifically disclosed is a light irradiation device (100) which comprises a light source (101), a light guide body (107) and a spectrum modulation member (104). The light guide body (107) guides light, which is emitted from the light source (101) and incident on the light guide body (107), from the incident surface to the inner part, and then has the light reflected by a lateral surface thereof, so that light having a controlled directivity is emitted from the exit surface. The spectrum modulation member (104) attenuates the spectrum of a specific wavelength band in the light with a controlled directivity. In this connection, the incident surface is smaller than the exit surface in the light guide body (107), and the spectrum modulation member (104) is provided on the exit surface-side of the light guide body (107).
