In a method for transmitting data in a packet-based transmission system, a packet is assembled by including control information and payload data, wherein the control information includes a destination address; redundancy information is calculated using the packet; wherein the destination address is stripped from the packet and the redundancy information is added to the packet and a control bit in the packet is set indicating that no destination address is included in the packet.
