<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an active material with enough power and high-rate discharge capacity through further improvement of conductivity of nickel hydroxide used for a rechargeable cell. <P>SOLUTION: The composite positive electrode material used in an electrochemical cell is able to contain particles 1 of an anode material, and a conductive material 3 at least partially embedded in the particles of the anode material.
