<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steel wire and steel cord simultaneously satisfying three of an initial adhesiveness, adhesion durability, and after treatment property, and excellent in adhesiveness with rubber, and a pneumatic tire using the same. <P>SOLUTION: The steel wire and steel cord are surface-treated with aqueous solution containing a triazole compound after surface-treated with aqueous acid solution. The aqueous acid solution is preferably aqueous solution containing phosphoric acid, and the triazole compound is preferably benzotriazole or tolyltriazole.
