PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wire cut electric discharge working machine capable of determining the working state by classifying and determining the inter-electrode state in each voltage application of a power source voltage. SOLUTION: The wire cut electric discharge working machine includes a voltage application means constituted by a voltage application timing generator 1 for applying the voltage while providing a rest time of at least application time or more during individual voltage application that a voltage of both polarities of positive polarity and negative polarity is applied to the inter-electrode place 7 of a wire electrode 7A and the work 7B at a period of 1 micro-second or less, a driver circuit 2, and a switching element 4 or the like; a voltage divider 8 for detecting an inter-electrode voltage generated between the inter-electrode place 7; a three-state determination signal output means for outputting a state determination signal corresponding to the respective states by classifying the working state to the three states of "release", "electric discharge" and "short circuit" in each voltage application by the voltage application means based on the inter-electrode voltage Vbb detected by the voltage divider 8; and a counting means for determining state determination data by counting the respective state determination signals (h), (l), (p) output from the three-state determination signal output means.
