PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem of a coarse roll having an uneven surface, where gripping power is lost by clogging of peeled scum in recesses in a short time period. SOLUTION: The coarse roll 20 includes the uneven surface having recesses 7 or protrusions 8 uniformly distributed on an outer circumference 20B of a cylinder 20A constituting a body. A fluororesin coating is applied to a whole surface of the outer circumference 20B including the recesses 7 or the protrusions 8. A sprayed metal layer is formed as a substrate for the fluororesin coating layer on the protrusions of the outer circumference 20B of the coarse roll 20. The substrate for the fluororesin coating layer in the recess is a polished surface of a metallic material of the cylinder free from the sprayed metal layer, or the sprayed metal layer having small surface roughness compared with the sprayed metal layer on the substrate of the protrusion.
