<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a video output device from carrying out an unintentional operation due to the wrong operation of a remote controller of the video output device connected to a video display device. <P>SOLUTION: When an output video from the own device (video output device 121) is displayed on a display part 105 in the video display device 101, a control part 116 in the video output device 121 determines that the operation control on the video output device 121 from the remote controller 132 should not be restricted. Thereby, the video output device 121 is set to a remote controller restriction release mode. When an output video from the own device (video output device 121) is not displayed on the display part 105 in the video display device 101, the control part 116 discriminates that the operation control on the video output device 121 from the remote controller 132 should be restricted.
