PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enlarge a variable range of duty ratio in a DC voltage converter which is equipped with an auxiliary switching element that generates an auxiliary current that does not directly contribute to DC voltage conversion so as to reduce the switching loss of a main switching element. SOLUTION: The DC voltage converter is provided with auxiliary switching elements Q3 and Q4 for generating auxiliary currents Irp and Irp# so as to reduce the switching loss of main switching elements Q1 and Q2. In usual operation mode, the switching loss is reduced by switching on or off the main switching elements according to a set duty ratio along with the ON-OFF operation of the auxiliary switching element. Alternatively, when the duty ratio goes higher than a predetermined value, an operation mode is applied that switches on or off the other main switching element according to the duty ratio while switching off the auxiliary switching element and/or the main switching element with one arm.
