<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motion vector coding method for improving coding efficiency by increasing the prediction capability of the predictive value of a motion vector. <P>SOLUTION: The motion vector coding method includes a neighboring block specification step (S300), a reference picture determination step (S306, S308), a predictive motion vector deriving step (S302, S304, S310, S312, S314), and a motion vector coding step (S316). In the predictive motion vector deriving step, the motion vector obtained by using the motion vector of another block, which is the motion vector to be used when predictively coding a neighboring block, is used as a motion vector of the neighboring block, and when only one of the plurality of neighboring blocks is the same as the reference picture of a coding target block, the motion vector of the neighboring block which refers to the same reference picture is defined as the predictive motion vector of the coding target block. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
