<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium secondary battery having an excellent life even when using a positive electrode active material containing a less expensive and more safe phosphate-based positive electrode material. <P>SOLUTION: The lithium secondary battery includes a positive electrode containing the positive electrode active material having a composition expressed by the following composition formula (1), and a nonaqueous electrolyte containing at least one compound selected from a group consisting monofluorophosphate and difluorophosphate.
