<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid polymer electrolyte membrane in which a proton conductive polymer material is filled in pores of a porous film, and which has low methanol permeability and is effective for a DMFC. <P>SOLUTION: This invention relates to an electrolyte membrane in which a proton conductive polymer material, in which the molar ratio of a unit derived from a monomer and having at least proton acid radical and a unit derived from a monomer, containing a nitrogen atom in the molecule and having no proton acid radical is 95:5-50:50, is filled into a porous film of low cost such as polyimide of which pore diameter formed by ion punching is 0.3μm or less and the elastic modulus is 1,000 MPa or more.
