<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a touch panel type liquid crystal display device reducing power consumption of the backlight. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device for displaying data with backlight irradiation carries out comparing a sensor output of a sensor that detects reflected light of the backlight by an operation object on a touch panel type input/output display unit, with a preset reference value, and controlling the luminance of the backlight by using the result of comparing so as to render the output of the sensor to be closer to an allowable lower limit output value. With this configuration, it is not necessary to set the luminance of the backlight to a little higher considering reduction in the sensor output due to changes with time or temperature changes, which can reduce the power consumption while securing a sufficient sensor output. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
