PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a document retrieval method capable of extracting exactly an important document desired by a user. SOLUTION: A document is analyzed in a query document Qn generated in a Q&A system 2 and an a reply document An for replying a query, as objects, to prepare a retrieval index SI. The retrieval index SI is weighted to be weighted with an increased weight or the like, as a contrivance, as to not only a word appearance frequency but also a noun word contained in a sentence with an end auxiliary word indicating a question or the query. A document index DI is also prepared in a document file in a database 3 as an object. The document index DI is weighted to be weighted with an increased weight or the like, as a contrivance, not only depending on a word appearance frequency but also as to a word used in the plurality of documents, in a document group concerned in the preparation of the same person. The retrieval index SI and the document index DI are applied to a retrieval algorithm M to calculate a degree of conformity, and the best document for the query document is extracted out of the database 3.
