PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a melanogenesis promotor which is safe and inexpensive and works on melanocyte (chromogenesis cell) existing near hair mother cells of hair roots, exhibiting excellent melanogenesis-promoting effects; and a white hair improvement agent which comprises the melanogenesis promotor and is dominantly effective in white hair improvement and white hair prevention. SOLUTION: The melanogenesis promotor includes a Lonicera japonica extract as the main component. Preferably, the Lonicera japonica extract is a hydrous lower alcohol extract.
