PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for separating lead shot from dirt, in which the lead shot contained in dirt is surely separated with high purity without using water. SOLUTION: The method for separating the lead shot from dirt includes: a drying process (A) in which collected dirt containing lead shot is dried; a bulky solid matter excluding process (B) in which the dried dirt is sorted with meshes to remove bulky solid matters such as pebbles, clay fragments, wads and clods to obtain dirt containing lead shot; a dirt crushing process (C) in which small grains having a diameter equal to or less than 1.5-2.5 times the lead shot are sorted with meshes while the dirt containing the lead shot is crushed, to obtain the mixed dirt having the small grains and the lead shot; and an air blowing sorting process (D) in which air is blown off from the side while the mixed dirt is dropped, so that the dirt with smaller specific gravity is blown away to make the lead shot with larger specific gravity come down in the vicinity, to obtain the lead shot.
