A method for improving MCCH monitoring mechanism in a network terminal of a wireless communication system is disclosed. The method includes steps of delivering an MBMS service announcement to a UE of the wireless communication system, which contains a list of MBMS services to be broadcast in the network and service related information, one of the service related information indicating which MBSFN area(s) an MBMS service is broadcasted in; transmitting session start information of the said MBMS service on the MCCH associated with the indicated MBSFN area; and starting broadcasting the said MBMS service in the indicated MBSFN area(s).
