Disclosed is a centrifuge tube (1), particularly a microcentrifuge tube, comprising a filter holder (6) placed inside a collection tube (1), the filter herein being a microfiltration membrane (10) capable of retaining unbound micro-organisms as a retentate. This particularly refers to microliters (microsieves) made by photolithography and anisotropic etching in ceramic materials such as silicon nitride. The invention also pertains to microsieve filters suitable for use in microcentrifuge tubes, and to the use thereof in a method for the concentration of one or more micro-organisms from a liquid sample containing them. Preferably, the filter holder comprises a score (11) allowing easy breakage for the sake of conducting optical analysis of a retentate. |
