<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrogel contact lens which is improved in a contact surface and the wetability of an internal structure, has high persistence in the effect, and excels in contamination resistance, shape stability, and mechanical strength, and a method for manufacturing the same. <P>SOLUTION: Provided are the wet hydrogel contact lens characterized by containing an ionic hydrophilic polymer which is a compound having a hydroxyl group and anionic group, and the method for manufacturing the wet hydrogel contact lens, wherein the component of the hydrogel contact lens is a copolymer containing at least cationic monomer and anionic monomer.
