PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an intake device for an engine solving the problem of lowering of engine performance due to clogging of an air cleaner by surely preventing the suction of foreign matter from an opening of an intake duct. SOLUTION: This intake device for the engine 2 includes the air cleaner 5 mounted in the engine 2, the intake duct 6 for introducing air into the air cleaner 5 and an air outlet pipe 7 to take out air purified by the air cleaner 5. The intake device is constituted by arranging the intake duct 6 on an upper side of the engine 2, extending the intake duct 6 in a vehicle width direction from the air cleaner 5 and forming the opening 6a to take air in a vehicle width direction end of the intake duct 6. The air outlet pipe 7 is arranged on a vehicle longitudinal direction front side of the intake duct 6 and is extended up to the vicinity of the opening 6a of the intake duct 6 in a vehicle width direction, and an outer wall 7a of the vehicle width direction end of the air outlet pipe 7 is extended to the vehicle front along the vertical surface S passing the opening 6a of the intake duct 6.
