PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum preservation device capable of setting the inside of a vessel at predetermined internal pressure, efficiently performing suction operation, and preventing liquid from being erroneously sucked. SOLUTION: The vacuum preservation device includes the vacuum preservation vessel having an openable/closable valve, and a suction device 2 depressurizing the inside of the vessel. The suction device 2 is provided with: a pump unit 21 having a decompression pump P sucking air in the vessel and an electric motor M driving the decompression pump P; and a control section 50 controlling the drive/stop of the pump unit 21. The control section 50 has a vacuum degree determination means 55a determining whether or not the inside of the vessel reaches the predetermined internal pressure based on previously actually-measured load current characteristics of the pump unit 21 and a current value to the pump unit 21 during driving. The control section 50 further has an erroneous liquid suction determination means 55b determining whether or not the decompression pump P erroneously sucks the liquid based on the current value.
