PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To heighten strength of a liquid crystal display by heightening joining strength between a substrate having an insulating film film-deposited on the surface thereof and a sealing material. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display includes a TFT array substrate 2, a counter substrate 4 provided on a side on which an insulating film 25 of the TFT array substrate 2 is formed and opposed to the TFT array substrate 2 at an interval, a counter electrode 43 film-deposited on a surface opposed to the TFT array substrate 2 of the counter substrate 4 and comprising an ITO, the sealing material 3 provided in a frame shape so as to enclose a gap between the TFT array substrate 2 and the counter substrate 4 and joined to the counter electrode 43, an ITO layer 9 formed on the insulating film 25 and joined to the sealing material 3 and a liquid crystal 8 packed in a space enclosed by the sealing material 3.
