PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a permanent magnet rotary machine capable of suppressing a cogging torque low while reducing leakage magnetic flux. SOLUTION: The permanent magnet rotary machine includes: a stator 3 having an excitation coil wound therearound, and a rotor 4 rotating oppositely with a predetermined gap from the stator 3 and having permanent magnets 22. In the rotary machine, the stator 3 has a stator core 11 divided into the predetermined number of pieces, the stator core 11 has magnetic pole teeth 13 protruding in a radial direction on the center of a circumferential direction of a yoke 12, a slot 14 to which a coil 16 is wound is formed by the yoke 12 and the magnetic teeth 13 of the stator core 11, an opening 15 is provided on an inner diameter side of the stator of the slot 14, a cylindrical ring 17 opposing the rotor 4 with a predetermined gap is disposed on the inner diameter side of the stator 3, and a through-hole 18 for limiting an opening area is formed at a position opposing the opening of the cylindrical ring 17.
