摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve two-way communication to increase the number of channels without increasing the number of optical fibers to be connected to an optical waveguide structure, and to reduce a loss upon optically connecting an optical fiber to a light receiving element and a light emitting element. <P>SOLUTION: An optical module 5 is provided, including an optical waveguide structure 4 having a curved optical waveguide 3 that optically connects an optical fiber 10 to a light receiving element 1 and a light emitting element 2. The curved optical waveguide 3 has a waveguide core 6 having a tapered form in the width or thickness, which increases toward an end face 6A where the waveguide is connected to the light receiving element 1 and the light emitting element 2.
