PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a circuit and method for surely suppressing peak power to form a waveform having a wide skirt. SOLUTION: The peak value of an input signal exceeding the threshold of power and the peak position on its time base are detected, and a peak canceling signal Y to lessen the peak value is generated. The waveform of the generated peak canceling signal Y is divided into a first half portion Y1 and a second half portion Y2 on the time base. an input signal X is lessened by the second half portion Y2, and an input signal X2 obtained after delaying it by a prescribed time is lessened by the first half portion Y1.
