PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly practical cooling device which rapidly cools and is excellent in restoration property, using metal material as a cooling medium. SOLUTION: A cooled object holder 30 is arranged in an interior space 16 of a heat insulating wall body 12. The cooled object holder 30 holds a large number of metal particles 36 and includes a storage part 32d for storing a cooled object. The large number of metal particles 36 can be heat-exchanged with the cooled object stored in the storage part 32d, and cooling air can circulate among the large number of metal particles 36. A fan 18 controls the circulation of the cooling air from the inlet port 12a of the heat insulating wall body 12 toward an outlet port 12a until the temperature decreases down to near the freezing point of the cooled object, and promotes the circulation of the cooling air from the inlet port 12a toward the outlet port 12a when the temperature reaches near the freezing point of the cooled object.
