PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for coating a furnace wall of a carbonization chamber of a coke furnace capable of preventing carbon growth by enabling a surface of a refractory in the coke furnace to be firmly coated with a glass film exhibiting a carbon peeling effect. SOLUTION: A surface of a refractory forming the carbonization chamber of the coke furnace is coated with the glass layer by feeding a vitrifying material while the vitrifying material is radiated into a flame. The vitrifying material containing a SiO<SB>2</SB>component and an Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>component, the sum of both being not less than 80%, and having a deformation temperature of not lower than 1,150°C is fed at a rate of not more than 20 kg/h, and the temperature of the application surface of the glass layer during application is higher than the deformation temperature of the vitrifying material by not lower than 50 to not higher than 200°C.
