PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for constructing a steel pipe pile, which makes an upper structure mounting member fixed to a head, and which dispenses with the welding of the upper structure mounting member to the steel pipe pile on a construction site. SOLUTION: A plate 21, in which an insertion hole 211 for a bolt is preformed, and the steel pipe pile 11 are prepared (Fig.1(a)); the plate 21 for the upper structure mounting member is welded and fixed to the steel pipe pile 11 in a factory etc. (Fig.1(b)); the steel pipe pile 11 with the plate is carried in to the construction site, and buried in the ground 312 (Fig.1(c)); and the plate 21 and a plate 22, on which a support 12 of an upper structure is mounted, are connected together by means of the bolt 23 and nuts 241 and 242.
