PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk reproducing device and an optical disk reproducing method which attain stable reproduction by detecting a track in high/low temperature environments. SOLUTION: An optical pickup photodetects reflected light of light irradiated on an optical disk provided with a track, and outputs an electric signal. An optical pickup driving part moves the optical pickup to a predetermined position. A mirror signal generation part generates a mirror signal on the basis of the electric signal. A TEC signal generation part generates a tracking zero-cross signal on the basis of the electric signal. A temperature detection part detects the ambient temperature of the optical pickup. A speed detection part calculates a detected speed that is a speed of the optical pickup moving across the track on the basis of the mirror signal and the tracking zero-cross signal. The speed detection part changes a signal to be referred, according to the ambient temperature. A speed control part generates a moving speed control signal for controlling the moving speed of the optical pickup, on the basis of the detected speed, and supplies it to the optical pickup driving part.
