In an automatic transmission for a hybrid vehicle, capability to follow the operation by a driver can be improved, and fuel consumption can be improved. The automatic transmission (1) is provided with a first clutch (C1) capable of connecting a first driving gear shaft (4) which rotatably supports driving gears (G3a, G5a) with an input shaft (2); a second clutch (C2) capable of connecting a second driving gear shaft (5) which rotatably supports driving gears (G2a, G4a) with the input shaft (2); a first meshing mechanism (SM1) capable of connecting the driving gears (G3a, G5a) with the first driving gear shaft (4); a second meshing mechanism (SM2) capable of connecting the driving gears (G2a, G4a) with the second driving gear shaft (5); a brake (B1) capable of securing a third element (Ra) of a planetary gear mechanism (PG) to a transmission case (7); and a switching mechanism (8) capable switching between the state that an electric motor (MG) is connected to a first element (Sa) and the state that the motor (MG) is connected to the third element (Ra). The first element (Sa) and the first driving gear shaft (4) are connected, and a second element (Ca) and the driving gear (G3a) are connected.
