WATER-BASED COATING MATERIAL AND COATED ARTICLES

Provided is a water-based coating material which comprises a polymer (I), colloidal silica (II), and a nonionic surfactant (III) having an HLB of 16 or more, wherein the polymer (I) is a polymer obtained by copolymerizing a monomer mixture (M) containing 0.2 to 10mass% of a monomer (a) having two or more radical-polymerizable groups; the content of the colloidal silica (II) in terms of solid matter is 0.1 to 20 parts by mass per 100 parts by mass of the polymer (I); and the content of the nonionic surfactant (III) is 0.01 to 10 parts by mass per 100 parts by mass of the polymer (I). Also provided are articles coated with the water-based coating material. The water-based coating material exhibits a small water contact angle and therefore can develop stain resistance and weather resistance.
