PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for controlling an alarm operation in a video display system are provided to use various contents of an external medium in an alarm function, thereby providing preferred music, video, and moving pictures to a user. CONSTITUTION: A user command input unit(207) receives a user command for setting an alarm function. A memory unit(217) stores information for the alarm function. The alarm function is set based on the user command. A medium is connected to an access unit(205). The medium stores data for an alarm. A control unit(211) realizes the alarm function through an output unit(215) based on the alarm setting information of the memory unit and the data of the medium. |
