The press plunger comprises a plunger head at one end of a plunger shaft (28) and a plunger insert (46) at the other end of the plunger shaft. The plunger shaft has an axial bore in which a tension rod is pivoted axially. The tension rod has a clamping head for interacting with a clamping recess. The plunger insert is clamped in the clamping recess by the clamping head against the free end of the plunger shaft through a shoulder surface. An independent claim is also included for a device for assembly and disassembly of a plunger insert.
