PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner having user-friendliness without fully stopping an electric fan even if a suction port of the vacuum cleaner is closed during operation under the maximum power consumption, and further having high reliability in safety. SOLUTION: The vacuum cleaner includes a main trigger path 11 for transmitting a main trigger signal for firing a bidirectional thyristor 10 in a predetermined phase, and a sub-trigger path 12 for transmitting a sub-trigger signal for firing the bidirectional thyristor at a sub-phase slower than that of the main trigger signal within the same half-wave. The main trigger path 11 is disposed with an overheat cut-off section 4 for cutting off the path to set the sub-phase so as not to raise the temperature inside the vacuum cleaner over a predetermined temperature when the closed vacuum cleaner is operated with the sub-phase.
