PURPOSE: A backward pumping type tandem seal device is provided to prevent the discharging of harmful material to air by preventing the leakage of lubricant to atmosphere from a gear box. CONSTITUTION: A backward pumping type tandem seal device comprises a turbo machine housing(30), a process seal, a gear-box seal(24) and a fluid source(26). The process seal is installed in the turbo machine housing. The gear-box seal is installed in the turbo machine housing. The fluid source is connected with the process seal and the gear-box seal. The fluid source communicates the pumping media with the turbo machine housing and the gearbox housing.
