[Class 122 (i).] In a torsional-vibration damper, weights 6 are pivoted on bell cranks 4 which are pivoted on arms 2 rigidly secured to a sleeve mounted on the shaft. Frictional damping means may be provided at the joints, and the weights may be resiliently connected to the pivots on the bell cranks. In the construction shown in Fig. 2, a compressed rubber sleeve 10 is interposed between a sleeve 8 on the pin 5 and a bush 9 in the weight 6. Alternatively, spring-pressed fibre, wood, asbestos cloth, &c. washers may be arranged between the weights and the forked arms of the links 4. In the construction shown in Fig. 4, the weight 6 is mounted between springs 16, 17 on an arm pivoted to the pin 5 carried by the bell crank 4. Friction discs 11 are provided. |
