Mechanically powered hydraulically damped actuator

The actuator has a body (1) in which a rod (2) is mounted. A screw (8) is extended inside the rod to co-operate with a nut (7) secured to the rod. The screw is driven in rotation by an electric motor (23). The rod is associated with a piston (5) that is slid in a cavity (C) of the body so as to define hydraulic annular and full chambers (C1, C2). The chambers are filled with a hydraulic fluid, and are connected with a fluid transfer unit fitted with a regulator member e.g. check valve (37), adapted to throttle the fluid expelled from one of the chambers in a travel direction of the rod. An independent claim is also included for a method for monitoring an actuator.
