<p>The method involves positioning a cutter (6) of a tool at an operating point in an edge region of an inner wall of a workpiece (1). An internal gear is formed by moving the cutter along a feed direction tangential to the inner wall of the workpiece under simultaneous rotation of the cutter and the workpiece for rolling the cutter along an inner circumference of the workpiece. The cutter is repositioned at another operating point that is opposite to the former operating point, where inner diameter of the workpiece is one-third larger than the cutter diameter. An independent claim is also included for a device for forming an internal gear in a hollow workpiece i.e. hollow cylinder.</p> |
