<p>A system includes a protective membrane 10 having first and second layers 30 and 32. The first porous layer 30 is air permeable, vapour breathable, and liquid repellent. The second barrier layer 32 is vapour breathable, liquid repellent, and adsorptive of chemical and/or biological agents. The system may comprise a protective fabric. Adsorptive particles within the barrier layer may be activated carbon, zeolites or metal oxides, for example. The layers may be formed of expanded PTFE (ePTFE) or other polymers.</p> |
