<p>Preparing polyhalogenated perhaloalkylaniline comprises reacting, in a polar solvent from N-methylpyrrolidone, dimethylsulfone, N,N-dimethylimidazolidinone or diphenyl sulfone, preferably N-methylpyrrolidone, a benzene containing compound with ammonia, in the presence of an alkali halide, preferably potassium fluoride, at 200-300, preferably 235-250[deg] C and 20-50, preferably 25-42 kg/cm 2>to form 2-halo-perhaloalkyl aniline; and#reacting 2-halo-perhaloalkylaniline formed in step (A) with a halogenating agent to form a polyhalogenated perhaloalkylaniline. Preparing polyhalogenated perhaloalkylaniline comprises: (A) reacting, in a polar solvent from N-methylpyrrolidone, dimethylsulfone, N,N-dimethylimidazolidinone or diphenyl sulfone, preferably N-methylpyrrolidone, a compound of formula (I) with ammonia, in the presence of an alkali halide, preferably potassium fluoride, at 200-300, preferably 235-250[deg] C and 20-50, preferably 25-42 kg/cm 2>to form 2-halo-perhaloalkyl aniline; and (B) reacting 2-halo-perhaloalkylaniline formed in step (A) with a halogenating agent to form a polyhalogenated perhaloalkylaniline.
