PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for extension of an articulation dictionary by speech recognition are provided to correct the discordance between voice data and transfer data by automatically searching a pronunciation variation phenomenon of a voice database and extending pronunciation. CONSTITUTION: A receiving unit(100) receives voice information for an input speech sentence, and a pronunciation variation sensing unit(220) divides the voice information into at least one phonemes. The pronunciation variation sensing unit collects division information for one or more divided phonemes. The pronunciation variation sensing unit analyzes the pronunciation variation for the divided one phoneme. A pronunciation dictionary extension unit(230) selects a replaceable phoneme candidate group for the analyzed one phoneme.
