The belt has a strap (3) formed between an upper anchoring point and a lower anchoring point. The upper anchoring point is connected to a strap winding device (10) that is embarked on a foldable bench seat (1). The strap includes an elastic portion (13) whose tractive effort on the strap is higher than that of the winding device. The elastic portion defines a reserve strap length sufficient for reinstallation of the folded bench seat. The elastic portion is achieved by using an elastic band and arranged between a stop pin of a sliding bolt and the lower anchoring point. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a foldable bench seat for a vehicle including a safety belt (2) a method for retracting and reinstalling of a foldable bench seat.
