<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glucose absorption inhibitor derived from natural resources and exhibiting safe and mild action, a preventive or therapeutic agent for hyperglycemia containing the glucose absorption inhibitor, and a food, drink or pet food imparted with a function to suppress an increase in blood sugar level. <P>SOLUTION: The glucose absorption inhibitor is prepared by extracting leaves or flowers of peach containing multiflorin A as an active component with an alcohol or hot water, fractionating the extracted liquid with 60% methanol/dichloromethane and collecting a purified fraction extracted to the 60% methanol.
