<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide techniques for selecting an image based on contents of the image. <P>SOLUTION: An image importing system has an image input means and an image processing device. Image information collected by the image input means is then sent to the image processing device. The image processing device connected to the image input means determines the image metrics related to the image information. The image processing device starts an import sequence when the image metrics satisfy predetermined conditions. In the import sequence, one or more images are stored or detection of one or more images is indicated.
