<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To search out traditional medicinal plants which exhibit a high inhibiting effect on influenza virus infection and are heretofore not known to have such inhibiting effect and to apply them to drugs, etc., for the treatment and prevention of influenzas. <P>SOLUTION: An extract of Muehlenbeckia hastulata, a plant of the polygonaceae occurring in Chile, Persicaria hydropiper L occurring in Japan, or a purified product thereof shows exhibited high anti-influenza virus activity. Therefore, these can be utilized for safe pharmaceutical compositions, health care supplements, medical spirits, or public health compositions having a high inhibiting effect on influenza virus infection. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
