PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge lamp for a vehicle which prevents generation of leakage. SOLUTION: Molybdenum foils 23, 23 are sealed and arranged in a pair of pinch seals 21, 21 of a light emitting tube 19. An electrode 22 is formed of a sealed part 28 sealed in the pinch seal, a protrusion 29 protruded to a light emitting part 20 of the light emitting tube, and a welded part 30 welded on the molybdenum foil. The sealed part is partitioned into: a first intermediate region 28a, end regions 28b, 28b configured as both ends; and second intermediate regions 28c, 28c positioned between the first intermediate region and the end regions. Concave or convex fabrication parts 31 are formed in at least the second intermediate regions out of the first intermediate region and second intermediate regions. Occupancy of a formation area of the fabrication parts to an area of an outer peripheral surface of the first intermediate region is set to be smaller than that of the formation area of the fabrication parts to an area of outer peripheral surfaces of the second intermediate regions.
