MULTIPLE INTEGRATED MULTI-BEAM LASER SCANNING SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce printing artifacts by improving printing resolution. SOLUTION: A device forming an image on a light receiving surface is equipped with: a first integrated multi-beam source having a plurality of light emitting elements arranged to generate a plurality of first beams simultaneously; and a second integrated multi-beam source having a plurality of light emitting elements arranged to generate a plurality of second beams simultaneously. Since optical paths of the beams generated by the second integrated multi-beam source are not parallel to those of the beams generated by the first integrated multi-beam source, the device also includes a first combiner arranged in the optical paths of both of the first and second beams so that the optical paths of the first beams and those of the second beams become substantially parallel to one another. The first combiner outputs an imaging beam array to an imaging path. The first integrated multi-beam source and the second integrated multi-beam source are positioned and arranged so that a second spot moves relatively to the position of a first spot.
